DIANNE BEEVERS (DIAN)

Dianne Beevers lives in central Melbourne, Victoria. Her art practice includes painting, drawing, and mixed media installations, many concerned with the maritime industry. Her exhibition experience includes ten solo exhibitions in Newcastle, Sydney and Melbourne, and participation in more than fifty curated exhibitions across Australia, and in 2002, in Vienna, Austria. Dianne first trained as a painter and art educator,and also spent some years working in museums in Melbourne. In recent years her major interest has been in the design field. In 2001 she gained formal qualifications in Furniture Design. Since 1999 she has participated in twelve exhibitions of contemporary furniture in Melbourne, most recently at the Melbourne Museum and FURNITEX 2002, gaining the Sensational Screen Award. Dianne has taught in art schools in Newcastle and Melbourne, and currently teaches History and Contextual studies in the International Unit for Public Art at RMIT University. In 2000 she participated in a cultural exchange to Xianyang with RMIT University, her first visit to China. In 2002 she has recently been awarded an Australia Council Residency, to work with a Landscape Architect at an old Pilot Station near Port Macquarie, New South Wales. Dianne is married to Geoffrey Beevers, a Port Phillip Sea Pilot, and they have two adult daughters. |
