SANDRA-LEE MURPHY
In my arts practice I have a keen interest in developing links with other artists.
I have already been involved in several successful and rewarding exchange/collaborative projects.
I am also actively involved in encouraging women artists to support each other.
WANDIE - Indigenous and non-indigenous Women Artists is a group I belong to that offers mentoring,
skill sharing and collaboration amongst women artists in Western Australia.
I have an avid interest in the culture and the arts of the region and
have been able to travel to Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Bali and Japan.
In 1995 I participated in a three-week cultural exchange to Osaka, Japan,
and between 1985 and 1992 I acted as a host to others on cultural exchange
from Singapore and Japan.
My interest in China was deepened by my brothers' visit to Mainland China in 1989.
His reflection on his experience of the culture, the arts, and the people
enlivened my interest
in Chinese arts particularly printmaking and papermaking.
I am looking forward to the opportunity to travel to China,
to exchange ideas and skill
with artists, to observe and experience traditional
and contemporary aspects of printmaking.
I know these will directly benefit my own arts practice.
