'WATERWAYS'

Therese Kenyon has produced a body of work based on the Canal du Midi in Southern France.
In the past she has consistently worked on the theme of water conservation and the mechanics
and architecture of pipelines, dams and locks. The Canal du Midi has such a fascinating history.
It was begun in the sixteenth century and winds through the wine growing districts along viaducts,
under bridges and along closely planted pathways.
It provides a great contrast to Australian management of water and conservation.
She photographed and painted whilst there and developed further work on her return to Sydney.
My work is about the manipulation of water and also subverting the way water imaging is usually
created with the cliches of reflection and horizon.
I wanted to juxtapose my photography with my painting with one being an interpretation and reflecting on the other.
